WebAug 3, 2016 · Trimmer has now become hard to start. Replaced the carb twice on the machine. Jets were clogged both times. Now the trimmer runs good to start. About after 25 mins of operation it loses power. A bogging down at full throttle kind of bogging down. Someone told me the piston rings could be on their way out. Is this true? WebI also have a Stihl FS55 trimmer that will only run when I put a little gas in the piston, then dies out when it burns through those drops. Replaced the carb, fuel filter and spark plug with same result. Took it to the dealer and am told it is a bad coil. If it was a bad coil i would have to believe it wouldn't start at all.
